Samoëns in Summer

Samoëns is as popular for its summers as its winters with a host of activities to keep visitors entertained.

‘Here a botanical garden, gothic church, medieval squares, timber-fronted patisseries and picture-box houses make it one of the prettiest of the Alpine resorts.’  The Telegraph

With the summer season options ranging from hiking and mountain biking, to road cycling to white water rafting, potholing and paragliding (parapenting), there really is something for everyone.

If all that sounds far too energetic why not just take in the stunning views of the Giffre Valley whilst sitting back and relaxing on a balcony with a glass of wine and a good book.

Water sports

For water sport enthusiasts the River Giffre offers an array of exciting activities including the high adrenaline sports of white water rafting and hydrospeed or the more sedate pastimes of kayaking, airboating or canoeing.

The leisure complex at Lac aux Dames also offers a wide range of recreational and sports activities, including water skiing, fishing and an open-air swimming pool with magnificent panoramic views of the mountains around Samoëns.

Climbing, caving or canyoning

With the mountains rising on either side of the village, there is no shortage of challenges if you enjoy climbing, caving, or canyoning. The valley has a world-wide reputation for potholing, with Samoëns being home to Gouffre Jean Bernard à Foilly, one of the deepest and most famous potholes in the world.

Golf, exploring alpine botanical garden, horse riding, quad biking and many other activities are also available in Samoëns and the surrounding area.  Visit the Samoëns Tourist Information site www.Samoëns.com to find out more.
