Heavy snow and an early start to the Samoëns winter season!

Right on cue snow is falling heavily across the Grand Massif ski domain. Over the last two days we have had heavy snow fall in the village of Samoëns, with 20cm of fresh powder at 1600m and more than 40cms being added to the existing base layer at Tête des Saix (2100m). And the best news is that there is a lot more forecast to fall over the next week.

Whilst the lifts don’t officially open until the 17th December, in response to the great conditions the Grand Massif ski company have just announced that they are going to be opening some of the Samoëns lifts this weekend, perfect for anyone looking for some pre-season skiing!  In addition, the lifts in Flaine also open this weekend and will now be open continuously until the end of April – thats a 19 week season, one of the longest in the Alps!
