Lac de Gers and Lovely Cakes!

As part of continuing to explore the Samoëns area we took a 2 hour walk from Lededian up to the Lac de Gers (1544m),  one of the many alpine lakes in the Grand Massif region.

The track winds up through the forest to Roux and the Chalets de Porte and offers some great views across the Giffre Valley of the village of Le Mont and the chalets perched precariously on the side of the Criou.

The track then leaves the forest and heads across farmland to the Chalet de Gers where there is a beautiful Gîte set on the side of the lake. On entering the Gîte we discovered that the owner had been busy that morning making the finest array of cakes and pastries. The only problem was choosing which to try first!
